Description
This 1962 Holiday House is a 20’ single-axle travel trailer that was acquired by the seller in 2020 and subsequently refurbished. (Scheduled to be displayed at Modernism Week in Palm Springs, CA, February 2024. Also featured in the Vintage Camper Trailers Magazine and the 2024 VCT Calendar.)

The project involved disassembling the trailer, modifying the layout, installing solar power and climate control systems, and replacing the aluminum exterior, windows, axle, brakes, electrical system, plumbing, appliances, fixtures, and furnishings. The floor plan features a lounge, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a rear bedroom, while amenities consist of a Dometic air conditioner with a heat pump, a stainless steel sink, a Dometic two-burner cooktop, an Isotherm refrigerator, a demand water heater, and a Casper memory foam mattress. This Holiday House is offered with an awning, a shore power cord, a 2024 calendar featuring the trailer, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The wood framing and aluminum exterior of this example were replaced during the aforementioned refurbishment, and additional work involved painting the upper bodywork blue with tan accents, refinishing the roof with an elastomeric coating, and replacing the windows, screens, door hardware, lighting, and badges. Details include wraparound plexiglass front windows, side and rear jalousie windows, a single camp-side entry door, and a retractable boarding step.
The single-axle chassis rolls on tan-painted steel wheels wearing polished covers and Goodyear tires. Stopping power is provided by electrically actuated drum brakes, and the chassis is equipped with a manual tongue jack. Infrastructure equipment includes a 100-watt rooftop solar panel, an Optima house battery, a Valterra freshwater pump, a 25-gallon freshwater tank, a 16-gallon black water tank, a 60-gallon gray water tank, two tongue-mounted 20-lb. propane tanks, and shore connections for cable TV, water, waste disposal, and 30-amp electrical service. The trailer weighs approximately 4,800 lbs. with a tongue weight of 500 lbs., and overall dimensions are roughly 20′ long, 8′ wide, and 6.5′ tall.
The interior was replaced during the refurbishment and is outfitted with woodgrain paneling, vinyl flooring, white curtains, LED lighting, and a hand-painted mural. Additional work involved replacing the electrical system, plumbing, fixtures, lighting, appliances, mattress, and upholstery as well as installing ceiling vents, an MPPT solar charge controller with USB power ports, a Fogatti demand water heater, and an under-seat Dometic air conditioner with a heat pump. The lounge area features wraparound windows and a corner sofa with cushions upholstered in blue cloth. The sofa can be configured as a sleeping surface.
The kitchenette is equipped with blue composite countertops, a stainless steel sink, a dual-fuel Isotherm slide-out refrigerator, a Dometic two-burner propane cooktop, overhead lighting, a retro-style analog clock, and a 120-volt power outlet. A Dometic thermostat for the house climate control system is mounted on the rear bulkhead, while storage consists of upper and lower cabinets.
The rear bedroom features a Casper memory foam queen mattress, wall sconces, a power-operated ceiling vent, two windows, and under-bed storage. The adjacent bathroom is equipped with a Dometic toilet, a power-operated ceiling vent, a toiletry cabinet, and a shower with an aluminum surround and a tethered sprayer.
