This 1966 Del Rey has not been restored but upgrades and repairs have been done over the last few years. This rig still needs repairs and has recently developed a corner leak that has damaged an interior corner inside the rear closet (the wood is not soft, it is darkened and stained) and created a soft floor area near the closet area. Thankfully all damage is isolated to the interior of the closet/cabinet. The rest of the interior remains in great original appearance. This rig has always been stored indoors when not in use. The leak developed when it was sitting in the driveway overnight upon returning from camping and that night we had flooding rains, winds and a tornado that took part of my home roof off but amazingly no structural damage to the truck camper sitting near the house. Camper was placed back into the barn ASAP after the storm when the leak was detected.
Not shown in the photos are new booth cushions with new copper-tone vinyl cushions. (See Video for new cushions)
The rig originally came with a 'dressing room' but there was an option to change the dressing room to a full bathroom.... it was planned to convert the dressing room to a wet shower/toilet but it was never finished. The shower pan and all bathroom drain plumbing have been installed but no toilet and no shower walls were installed but could easily be finished.
The main cab over bed has a new mattress, new curtains throughout, original stove/oven in working condition, original furnace (I only used it once), new 3-way fridge (LPG gas not connected to the fridge), Boot converts to a second bed, rig sleeps 4, 4 corner manual crank jacks, new power center with a built-in converter.
This rig always attracts attention wherever it goes and with some work, it can be even more of a show-stopper! I would keep it if I did not have too many other projects at this time.
