I present to you a vintage 1973 Thunderbird "Castle on Wheels" travel trailer (16'2" x 7'10" x 9'8"), with wet bath. Different from the more common travel trailers of that period, Thunderbird prided itself on high quality construction, fixtures, and appliances. With the exception of newer electric, plumbing, window, storage, security, and flooring system upgrades, the major components of this travel trailer are in original, good working condition. Every care was taken to restore this piece of Americana in an authentic manner.
I purchased this Thunderbird travel trailer in 2019 from a classic car restorer who conducted a partial restoration; I invested an additional $18,000 to complete the restoration. Replacements and upgrades include, but are not limited to the following: Exterior and interior paint; Weather stripping and silicone; Glass louvers; Rear bumper; Electric and stabilizing jacks; Safety tow package; Security system, including new vintage lockable door knob, dead bolt, hitch lock, propane tank lock, cable lock, and battery lock box; Seating, including upholstery; Propane system; Plumbing system, including fresh water tank, access port, and hoses; Sewer system, including black water tank and hoses; Electrical system, including wiring, circuit breaker panel, 12-volt battery, converter, 30-50 amp adapter, surge protector, and trailer hitch connection; Window covering system; Entertainment system, including a television, blue ray player, and DISH satellite; 110-volt bluetooth air conditioner; Awning and chairs; Bathroom fixtures; Kitchen fixtures; Rear camera; and Storage system, including custom shelving and high-grade plastic storage containers. Included are all Kitchen supplies (i.e., plates, cups, silverware, containers, pots/pans, and oven pan); Bathroom supplies (i.e., toiletries and black tank soaps/detergents); Electric supplies (i.e., tape, circuit breakers, and fuses); Tools and Emergency supplies (i.e., RV tool kit, fire extinguisher, motion sensor alarms, first aid kit, plumbing components, sealant tape and RV caulking, and fire starters); Lighting supplies (i.e., lantern, flashlights, emergency lights, and glo sticks); wall hangings; custom cover; and many other items.
I have tested all components of this Thunderbird travel trailer via two separate stays at the Patagonia Lake State Park, during winter and summer months. Considering she is about 50 years old, all original fixtures and appliances function well and as they should. I tow this trailer with a half-ton pickup truck, with no issues. This Thunderbird travel trailer is indeed a rare find, and awaits your next camping adventure.
NOTE: I never used the toilet and sewage system, but did test these components with RV-approved water/soap solutions.
